Pagan Proceedings

Though the previous entry appeared to make light of (apparent) recent lunacy at The Mother Church, it was surely blithe naivte that made it come as even a mild surprise to any of us. The signs have been there for a long time.

It has been commented on by me before (not in this blog) that the summer solstice celebrations The Mother Church has sponsored for several years are nothing but a dangerous dabbling in paganism. The Church Center has become a Boston Stonehenge complete with astrological festivities, Jovian jollity (Holst), and the inevitable capitulation to virulent forms of "ancient and modern necromancy" and moral idiocy.

No, we haven't heard of any animal sacrifices or the brewing in a cauldron of "Eye of newt, and toe of frog,/Wool of bat, and tongue of dog" (Shakespeare, Macbeth), but what about the depraved sacrifice of our dear Leader and her lifelong, selfless, loving work on the satanic altar of the Gill biography? This sort of thing, especially in light of the previous entry, is no innocent tomfoolery, and as this serpent burgeons into the great red dragon, it will devour its foolish priests and priestesses. If you have seen Goya's horrific images of war, you should have some idea of the terrors that just might await those who get cozy with the Antichrist.

Some may say this is all "much ado about nothing", but there is no such thing as a harmless infatuation with paganism, astrology, or the occult. The recent past at the Church Center may be far more advanced than prologue.

One reader could not find the original Planet Waves material referenced and quoted from in the previous entry. It may have been removed, for obvious reasons. The full web source address of that story was probably (it got cut off it was so long): http://planetwaves.net/pagetwo/2008/10/31/christian-science-monitor-to-follow-planet-waves-business-model. This reader said the ghastly morass of stuff on this site made random searching difficult and one the witness to much unpleasant content. Also, another helpful commenter has said that an eriscope is a sex-related horoscope or something like that. Cheery news.

A probably unreliable rumor has it that the shadowy "Writings of MBE" is the code name of a project to send the Board of Directors to Uranus, the Magician (according, again, to Holst). Would that we could bid them a heartfelt bon voyage. In such plesant phantasms come respite from these depressing developments.

Note: Some readers have commented that their comments either didn't stick or weren't accepted. The site gets a little frisky now and then. No foul play is suspected. Keep trying, and thank you.

I applaud you, friend. You are certainly using your talents for Him! How pleased God must be to see a child of His reinforcing the importance of the inspired Word of the Bible.

After reading your excellent entry last night inbetween watching the election returns, called up a friend and recommended she read your blog the first moment she has. She brought up an interesting parallel in the Bible, in the story about Jezebel who was into witchcraft, and how the Bible condemns same. I'm just about to look it up myself.
Many thanks to you...

Let me post this for your many readers, some of whom may not be conversant with the Word of God. This is from Ezekiel l3:23:
"Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations; for I will deliver my people out of your hand; and ye shall know that I am the Lord."
Thanks for what you are doing to expose this despicable evil at the highest level.

And we thought being tickled over, no living to see her daily and weekly horoscopes was bad! To now see that eriscope means a sex-oriented horoscope! Speaking of the heavens, good heavens what is going on with that individual?! Pagan indeed.

Reading the above, can't help thinking about Jesus' words, that there is nothing hid that shall not be brought to light. Not that the wickness was very hidden, I guess, if they were paying homage to a wiccan belief!

Two things on my mind this morning after reading your blog: I underscore the word you used to describe that odious Gill bio where the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science was "trashed"!
And furthermore, to think that the very woman who made possible the undeserved salaries of the present potentates, would allow a non-Scientist who cared not a fig for its teachings to do so, was and still is reprehensible. But reading about the long-time paganism, I understand it better. I was brought up a Methodist and it is unthinkable to me that they would ever have allowed such a biography to be researched and published trashing that saintly, Christ Jesus loving John Wesley!!!

If those who have "gotten cozy with the anti-Christ" think they will be protected when God's day of hereckoning comes, I pity them. It is going to be truly awful!
Keep up the grand work!

How can anyone who knows better turn away from the one true God, our loving Father, and get entangled with the forces of evil?! Inexplicable to me and to many of us, I can tell you.

Sounds like a merger with Scientology.

Do you know what your latest posting has inspired me to do? Review in the holy Word of God the story of Elijah's standing up to Baal worshippers. No wonder witchcraft-loving Jezebel wanted this man of God out of the way! And a friend of mine who loves classical music is listening to Mendelsohnn's oratorio of same name. Is there anything more important to us in these times than making sure we are on God's side? You have my love and support, my friend

You are doing God's work, and your reward will be, and I just know, is right now great.
Deepest thanks,

Thank you, thank you for bringing all this out! As with others I've been talking to, I now understand why Mrs. Eddy, her teachings, the Church she founded has been treated with such disrespect. Downright wicked!

I can't help wondering, since the Holy Scriptures soundly condemn satanic practices, why is that subject of the interview (has there been a retraction that you know about?) dabbling in it? Keep us posted since you are on the cutting edge of things.

Right on! There is no harmless in fatuation with the dark side, as you state. How anyone can think so in light of the Bible is beyond me.

Dear faithful worker,
To me, what you are doing with this blog is brought out in I Peter 4:l0:
"As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifest grace of God."

How is this blog any less "harmless in fatuation with the dark side". Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.

This is almost fun! How can the commenter above possibly defend paganism? You obviously are not thinking clearly, did not read "Pagan Proceedings" carefully at all! The Holy Word of God condemns such practices, and this blog is bringing it out. And I among many, are so grateful to the person doing it.

This is fun, Boston bashing is so about "The Holy Word of God ".

With all due respect, the dirty laundry of Boston has been "brought out" for many years and by many individuals although this blogger is without doubt the most articulate--remember the "Kerry Letters" that were quietly hushed up by branch church boards for years? Anyone remember "The Mailing Fund"? How about the hundreds of pages of documented abrogations of responsibility by Boston published by "Matters of Conscience" among others. So this is not new--although the blogger is commended on his efforts to expose the new depths to which Boston has sunk. What this blogger has brought out clearly to me is that this is no longer the church I joined nearly 50 years ago, nor is it ever likely to be again during my human life. If I remain a member, I'm as guilty as they are and am enabling them by giving them a constituency. Because of that fact I have no business being involved with it any longer. Why cling to tatters? Truth cannot be reconciled to error as Mrs. Eddy says. So I'm drafting my letter of withdrawal even now. And no, this does NOT mean I'm abandoning my study of Christian Science as I have learned it over the years. Nor am I abandoning my search for Truth, nor do I love our Leader any less. Rather I am choosing to follow her lead and to try to emulate in some small manner our Wayshower. If anything, this blog has rekindled and intensified my love of God, Christ Jesus and Mrs. Eddy. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. So as Mrs. Eddy quotes on page 268 of the Textbook: "Here I stand. I can do no otherwise; so help me God! Amen! — Martin Luther"

So inspiringly and eloquently stated! It's easy for me to understand how this commenter could have arrived at the place they have. And I, too, am so grateful for what this "articulate" blogger who loves Christian Science is doing for it!

It's interesting to note that Mrs. Eddy cautioned James Gilman not to associate with the Christian Scientists who were dutifully attending the local branch church while he was working on the illustrations for Christ and Christmas for her. To me this may be a hint that those of us who perceive the need will have to "go it on our own" for the foreseeable future. Information is, of course, generally helpful.

What a thought-provoking previous comment that was! Gives one much food for thought, especially given what we are faced with, we earnest students of Mary Baker Eddy's God-inspired teachings.

The Planet Wave article is clearly satire. The gossip about Ms. Trammel should stop.

This comment is coming years late, but the issue remains, that of whether to withdraw and study Science on one's own or stay and press onward. Obviously, prayer will lead each individual to the right solution, but something my CS teacher is very true. In urging us not to withdraw, he said, "It is easier to bang the dings out of a can from the inside." Prayer can also lead to a complete change, as it did in my case, a new city far away and new branch church membership that has been much happier.
